The Energy Saving Trust is a non-profit organisation, funded both by government and the private sector. They provide impartial information and advice and have a network of advice centres in the UK specifically designed to help people take action.

The Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) is an eco-centre in Powys, mid-Wales, dedicated to demonstrating and teaching sustainable development. CAT, despite its name, no longer concentrates its efforts on alternative technology, but focuses instead on general environmentalism. It is open to visitors, holds residential courses; and publishes information on organic farming, gardening, and ecologically-friendly living.

The Freecycle Network is made up of 4,373 groups with 5,126,000 members across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills.
